Nick Rossato

I wish I'd found this man sooner! Nick Rossato is a painter and sculpter whos work deals with the human form and mapping I really want to do something similar to the middle piece and I finally know now what to do with th silhoettes Ive been working on.

For the past while I've been looking very closely to street maps using a projector on the silhouettes of the people in my studio and I'm getting a bit tired of them. So today I decided to take a different less exact version of maps. For theses photograms of imagined maps I used thread and wire and pins and I really liked how they turned out

This is a picture of my gran and her friend in 1938 in Dublin, she went every year and it was a very special journey to her

I'm at it again but this time a little differently the top picture is one I took of limerick bus station and the bottom some of my friends when we were in an airport in Barcelona. making everything but the people white and it turned pink because of the ink so I bent them in half with the intention of dumping them when I saw this effect of getting rid of the people  and accentuating their space. Happy accident!

Felt workshop today! Really enjoyed it not quite sure if I can tie it into my work at the minute but if I can I will because it was a lot of o do and some come out very well like the ones put in the dryer which had a crumpled effect
